Aquos S2
-- at an event in China. The smartphone was launched in two variants -- one powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 630 processor which offers 64GB storage coupled with 4GB RAM while the other packs Qualcomm's 660 processor along with 128GB storage and 6GB RAM. The former is priced at CNY2,499 whereas the bigger variant is priced at CNY3,499. The handsets will be available in China starting August 14.



The highlight of this device is its three-sided bezel-less display, similar to what was also seen in the Essential Phone, the modular handset from the company headed by Android creator Andy Rubin.

Sharp launches air purifier with in-built mosquito catcher

Consumer electronics brand Sharp has expanded its range of air purifiers in India with the launch of one-of- its-kind air purifier, FP-FM40E. This air purifier is supposedly world's first air purifier that has an in-built mosquito catcher. Priced at Rs 26,000, the purifier is available exclusively through Amazon's website.

Besides the aforementioned differences, the two handsets have identical specs. The Aquos S2 sports a 5.5-inch display with 1080 x 2040 pixels resolution and a 2.5D Corning Gorilla Glass protection. It has a screen-to-body ratio of 87.5% based on Sharp's Free Form Display technology. On the camera front, the handset sports dual rear cameras placed vertically (12MP + 8MP) with phase detection autofocus and f/1.75 aperture. As for the front camera, it has an 8MP shooter cut out from the bezel-less display. The front also houses a fingerprint sensor.



Backed by a 3,020mAh battery, Aquos S2 runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat with Sharp's Smile UX and supports Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2 and 4G VoLTE.



Last month, the company launched its Android One smartphone in Japan -- Sharp X1. Priced at JPY 70,524, the smartphone will be available via Japanese carrier Y! Mobile. The Sharp X1 comes with a 5.3-inch full HD display with 1080 pixels x 1920 pixels resolution. Running Android 7.1 Nougat operating system out-of-the-box, the smartphone is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 435 processor. It offers 3GB of RAM and 32GB of internal storage which can be expanded further via microSD card. The Sharp X1 sports a 16.4MP rear camera (with LED flash) and an 8MP front shooter for selfies. The device offers connectivity options like 4G, LTE, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS and USB Type C.
