Reliance Jio's self-care app MyJio, which comes bundled with other apps like Jio TV, Jio Cinema and Jio Music has touched the 100-million milestone on the Google Play Store. The number of downloads for MyJio app is much higher in comparison to Airtel, Vodafone and other network apps.
According to reports, there has been by over 150% increase in downloads in the last 12 months. Even though Airtel launched its app a couple of years ago, it has around 10 million downloads. Apps which are on the top most downloaded list of Google Play Store are WhatsApp, Facebook, Messenger App and SHAREit.
The MyJio app is 8th on the 'Top Free Android Apps' on Google Play Store. The Jio TV apps and Jio Cinema apps are also equally popular and are at par with Amazon and Flipkart apps in terms of downloads.
Currently the company is prepping for the launch of its 4G feature phone dubbed as JioPhone which will hit the market on August 15 while pre-bookings are to start from August 24. The company announced that the device will be available for Rs 0, but it will charge its customers Rs 1,500 as security.
Jio Phone will run on VoLTE network and will come with a host of pre-installed services such as JioTV and JioCinema apps. The device will also have its own digital assistant along with the support for voice commands. It will support 24 Indian languages. Furthermore, the company will bring NFC feature on Jio-branded phones as well later this year. The feature will arrive as part of a software update.
The phone will reportedly come with a 2.4-inch screen along with 512MB RAM and 4GB of inbuilt storage. It will support dual-SIM functionality along with microSD card for extra storage space. The device is also said to feature a 2MP rear camera along with a VGA front-facing camera. Backed by a 2000mAh battery, the Jio feature phone will also include FM Radio and Bluetooth v4.1 under the connectivity section.
