NEW DELHI: Earlier in January this year, Razer acquired Nexbit and later it stopped selling Nextbit Robin smartphones. However, the company promised to roll out software updates for the smartphone for a period of 6 months. The company has now announced that is ending customer support for the smartphone. The company rolled out Android 7.1.1 Nougat update in June this year.
Talking about the end of support, Nextbit on its Razer forum said, "Rebels, we've shut down support for Robin. You won't be able to reach us by phone or chat anymore, but any outstanding RMA tickets will be handled via email. Remember, you can still refer to our self-help section at help.nextbit.com, or get help from other Robin users here."
The company earlier announced that it will continue the software updates and security patches till February 2018. The company said that it is only ending customer support and the phone will still receive software updates as promised.
To recall, the US-based company Nextbit has launched its cloud-based smartphone Robin in India in May 2016 at Rs 19,999. The Nextbit phone comes with a 'Smart Storage Feature', which enables the device to free up space by backing up apps and photos to the cloud, and archiving the least-used apps in case the space runs out.
Robin leaves thumbnails of all archived content on the smartphone, making it easy for users to restore them with just a tap.
The smartphone sports a 5.2-inch Full HD display with 1080x1920 pixel resolution. The display is protected with Corning Gorilla Glass 4. The smartphone is equipped with a fingerprint sensor and runs Android 7.1.1 Nougat operating system.
Nextbit Robin is powered by a hexa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor coupled with 3GB RAM. It comes with 32GB internal storage and 100GB of cloud storage. There's a 13MP rear camera with LED flash and a 5MP front-facing camera for selfies. Connectivity options include 4G, LTE, 3G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, NFC and GPS. The phone houses a 2,680 mAh battery with Quick Charge support.
