NEW DELHI: Tech giant IBM today said it has set up its first Machine Learning (ML) Hub in India in Bengaluru that will provide hands-on training in these new technology areas.

Organisations can visit the hub for hands-on training on ML and collaborate with IBM experts to build and deploy analytic models for a new generation of intelligent applications, IBM said in a statement.

Uncertainty in India IT sector has led to employees learning new technologies on their own time. Online education provider Udacity analysed data on online course consumption in the country and found a sharp increase in demand since the beginnig of this year. According to the company, the demand in the last two quarters has been very aggressive, among both engineering graduates and IT professionals. While advanced course in artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning (ML) and deep learning are popular in IT hubs like Bengaluru and Pune, Android development and ML are popular in Mumbai and Delhi. However, IBM did not disclose any investment details related to the new centre.

The new Hub is the latest addition to the tally of such centres. IBM gas ML Hubs operating in Toronto, San Jose, Beijing, and Boblingen, Germany.

Tech Mahindra top executives take 10-20% pay cut

Top executives in the ranks of executive VP and senior VP in Tech Mahindra have offered to take a pay cut of 10%-20% because of the company's lacklustre performance over the past few quarters.

"Through the Hubs, data professionals, business analysts and engineers work with IBM data science experts to understand and master the leading tools, technologies and techniques needed to visualise, analyse and interpret data," IBM said.



IBM also help companies build and test rapid, scalable prototypes for fast deployment of these models at the organisations, it added.



A Gartner report forecasts highest growth in India IT spending in software and IT services for 2017, which includes building new digital platforms with ML and artificial intelligence at the core.



"IBM Machine Learning hub reiterates our mission to partner and prepare enterprises for the cognitive era by unleashing the potential of machine learning," Gaurav Sharma, Vice President at IBM India Software Labs, said.
