Click "Start." Type "regedit" (without quotes) in the search bar. Press the "Enter" key.
Locate the following key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer
Click next to it to expand the submenu.
Find the DWORD value in the right pane. Set it to the following:
MaxCachedIcons
Use the exact phrasing and capitalization.
Double-click the value and change it to "4096." Right-click on your desktop. Click "Properties" and "Appearance."
Click the "Advanced" tab. Select "Icon" on the "Item" list. Increase the size by 1.
Click "Apply" and "OK." Exit out of the windows. Reboot your computer when complete.
