Put the software installation disc into your computer. Follow the onscreen prompts to complete installation.
Attach the kit components to your laptop. Most kits will use a USB plug that goes into a laptop's USB port.
Double-click the software icon on the desktop to launch the program.
Connect your laptop to the car. Turn the car to "On" but stop before you crank the engine.
Click "Scan" on your laptop.
